Gator LAX News: To all Varsity, JV and soon to be Gators
Friday, July 30th from 9Am to 11AM at Greenspun.
Your coaches are planning a morning training session for Friday, July 30th from 9Am to 11AM at Greenspun. The purpose is to prepare those going to the Cardigan Camp and give them a little edge. For those not attending the camp, it is an overview of some of the fundamentals you might want to work on prior to the start of next season. All players will be divided by position and the instruction is tailored to each of the three positions: attack, midfield and defense. Goalies are encouraged to attend; however, the goalie clinic will be held later in the year when we will bring in a championship goalie to conduct that session. The outline of instruction for the attackmen is as follows:
2. Effective accurate feeding
3. Best dodges for an attackman
4. Movement and positioning to improve scoring
5. Ways to get open
6. Shooting to score
7. Competing for ground balls against a long pole
8. Effective ways to improve weak hand
9. How to ride a defenseman
10. What college coaches look for when recruiting an attackman
The midfield and defense outlines are being finalized next week. Do your best to be there on the 30th. I will be contacting some of next year’s seniors to assist with the instruction. Please forward to any new players
